Young Company of Anne & Gilbert impresses Directors

The main cast of Anne & Gilbert always gets its fair share of applause and attention but audiences at the Harbourfront Theatre are also showing special appreciation for the Young Company. These ten ranging in age from 10-to-16, feature in the show’s major scenes and production numbers. Audiences have responded to their enthusiasm and high spirits, whether it’s filling a one room school-house with song and laughter or step-dancing with the main cast in the show-stopping “You’re Island Through and Through.”

That appreciation extends to Martha Irving, the Director of the show. She’s most impressed by the young actors’ diligence and professionalism. “I can’t say enough about what the Young Company adds to Anne and Gilbert. We have a really special group of kids here. They are the glue of  Avonlea, and their enthusiasm keeps this show fresh and genuine.”

Lisa MacDougall, the Music Director of Anne & Gilbert, describes the Young Company as “some of the most talented, focused and driven young people I have had the pleasure of working with.”  MacDougall has worked on such musicals as The Sound of Music and Annie and says, “The future is bright for these actors, and I couldn’t be happier with their performance in Anne and Gilbert. I encourage all to come see these little lights shine in this production.”

Anne & Gilbert is produced by Maurice Gallant. It runs until September 26 with three shows a week –Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday (matinée). For tickets contact the Harbourfront Theatre at 1-800-708-6505 or www.harbourfronttheatre.com.

“Sure to become a classic.”
